KOKRAJHAR: North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener and Cabinet minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday released BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) manifesto in Kokrajhar for the forthcoming BTC election slated to be held on December 7 and December 10.

The president of State BJP, Ranjit Dass, former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah and BJP candidate of Salakati, Kabita Basumatary also attended the function. Later, Sarma and senior BJP leaders attended the public meeting at Sarfanguri where Bibhuti Brahma is contesting from Dotma constituency on BJP ticket.

After releasing the manifesto, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the BJP would form the next government in BTC and would ensure implementation of all clauses of BTR accord signed on January 20 this year. He said that as per the MoS of BTR accord, the O Boro villages with absolute majority which were willing to be included in BTR and Bodo villages contiguous to the existing boundary with majority would be included in BTR. He said the existing 40 seats of BTC would be increased to 60 where all communities would get political space.

Sarma said that the Central Selection Board (CSB), which is taking the responsibility of recruitment of services in BTC, would be dissolved and the respective departments would take their own decisions in case of recruitment. He also said that the VCDC would also be dissolved and a new three-layer panchayat system would be set up.

In case of purchasing or transferring land in BTC, the BJP would make it easy for transfer or settlement. The minister said that the beneficiary would get official work done within 15 to 30 days. He also said that the BJP will give land pattas to all communities in BTC.
