Eastern Air Command concludes cycling expedition in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In order to commemorate 60 glorious years of service to the nation on December 1, 2019, HQ Eastern Air Command conduct a cycling expedition encompassing participants from all the stations of Eastern Air Command to promote the spirit of adventure and team spirit among air warriors as well as to create awareness and publicity for IAF Cycle expedition from Chabua (Assam), Purnea (Bihar) and Shillong (Meghalaya) to Guwahati. The expedition was started under the aegis of Adventure Cell Head Quarter of Eastern Air Command (Shillong).

The expedition was conducted from February 20 to February 26, 2020. It commenced from Chabua and Purnea on February 20 and from Shillong on February 25. Team 1 covered a distance of 592 km from Chabua to Guwahati. Team 2 covered a distance of 600 km from Purnea to Hasimara. Team 3 covered a distance of 140 km from Shillong to Guwahati. The teams were led by Group Captain Rajdeep Singh, Flight Lieutenant K Wisdom and Group Captain R Rex. The expedition culminated at Air Force Station, Guwahati on Wednesday.

Around 30 NCC cadets from 50 Air Sqn NCC, 40 volunteers from Air Force Station Guwahati and 70 students from AF School also joined the cycling expedition team on the route. The team was received by Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal RD Mathur, PVSM AVSM VSM ADC at Air Force Station Guwahati on Wednesday, stated a press release.
