Educational institutions, hostels & coaching centres closed till May 12 across Assam

In pursuance of government notification No.ASE.01/2020/PT-V/4 Dtd.27/04/2021, received from Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Elementary/Secondary and Higher Education Department, it has been decided to close down all educational institutions (government and non-government) in Sivasagar district to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

DEMOW/JAGIROAD/SILCHAR: In pursuance of government notification No.ASE.01/2020/PT-V/4 Dtd.27/04/2021, received from Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Elementary/Secondary and Higher Education Department, it has been decided to close down all educational institutions (government and non-government) in Sivasagar district to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Additional District Magistrate, Sivasagar, Junumoni Sonowal, in exercise of the powers conferred under the 'Disaster Management Act (DMA)-2005', ordered closure of all educational institutions (both government and non-government) from the pre-primary stage to the university level, including coaching institutes, and hostels from April 28 to May 12 across Sivasagar district. However, online classes will have to be made available for the students, stated the order.

This order is issued in greater public interest and as per provisions as laid down in section 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 of the DMA-2005. This order has come into force with immediate effect.

Following government notification to check further transmission of COVID-19 in the State, the Morigaon district administration has directed all educational institutions (government and private) including coaching centres to close down with immediate effect.

The District Magistrate's order further said that the academic institutions will remain closed for the next 15 days.

Sources informed that the order has been issued as the number of COVID-positive cases has risen to more than 400 across the district.

SILCHAR: Keerthi Jalli, in her capacity as the Chairperson of Cachar DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority), has directed all educational institutions (both Government and Non-Government) from the pre-primary section to the University level along with hostels and coaching institutions to remain closed for a period of 15 days, i.e., up to May 12, 2021.

She further stated that online classes have to be made available for the students. This order will come into effect with immediate effect.

This step has been taken due to the spike in Coronavirus cases across the State and in persuance of the series of orders issued by the State government to contain the further spread of the deadly virus.

Mentionably, the Government order No. ASE.01/2020/Pt-V/4, Dated:27/04/2021 issued by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Elementary/Secondary & Higher Education Department, Dispur authorised the Deputy Commissioners & Chairmen of DDMAs to pass such closure orders as and when the total COVID-19 cases exceeds 300 in last 10 days, stated a DDIPR press release.
