Assam government issues order to close all schools, colleges till May 11

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has issued an order to close all educational institutions from pre-primary to university level till May 11 in districts where cumulative COVID-19 cases have exceeded the mark of 300 in the last 10 days.

In this regard, the Secondary Education Department has directed all the deputy commissioners and the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, to close down all educational institutions along with hostels and coaching institutions. However, online mode of education should be made available for the students. It is to be noted that earlier the Department had issued an order that the educational institutions will be closed if the cumulative COVID cases exceed the 1,000 mark.
