ORANG: Political unrest brews in Assam following controversial remarks made by Kaziranga MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa about the Adivasi community. His statements sparked outrage across the state, with allegations that he attempted to create religious divisions among the indigenous Adivasis.  Terming the comments divisive and irresponsible, the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) demanded a public apology from the MP to the Adivasi people. The organization accused him of trying to polarize the community along Hindu and Christian lines, a move they call dangerous and unacceptable. In a strong display of dissent, the Udalguri district committee of AASAA, in collaboration with its Dimakuchi local committee, organized a protest programme at Atarikhat in Dimakuchi. As part of the agitation, effigies of MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were set on fire in a symbolic condemnation of the statements and alleged intent behind them.
