Eight tests COVID positive in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: The first COVID death was reported in the tea garden area of Doomdooma Circle on Thursday. He has been identified as Kishan Bishnu (42) of Daimukhia TE of M K Shah Export Limited. He tested positive at Doomdooma FRU on May 12 and succumbed to the virus on May 13.

Another person near Bordubi TE died on Friday at the Covid Care Centre, Tinsukia. He has been identified as Kamal Deka (64), a small tea garden owner, at Rumai Gabharu.

In the meanwhile, 8 persons tested positive at Doomdooma FRU out of 59 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) done on Friday. Of them, four are from tea gardens, one from Rupaisiding while the three are from Doomdooma town. They are Manashi Kundu (47) , ARC, Doomdooma, Akash Sharma (28) , Tara TE Pacca Line; Jamuna Jagannath (38) , Kherbari Budlabeta TE; Pintu Kumar Gupta (26) , Tara TE Line No – 12; Nishan Bhuyan Lahkar (16) , Doomdooma New Colony; Pranab Jyoti Lahkar (52) , Doomdooma New Colony; Thybo Moniram (26) , Samdang TE Line No - 10; and Pankaj Baruah (34) , Rupai Siding Lachit Nagar.

Again, a total of 181 persons tested positive in the whole of Tinsukia district on Friday against 1,291 Rapid Antigen Tests and 37 RT PCR done as per COVID bulletin issued by District Health Department.

Newly-elected MLA Rupesh Goala convened a meeting at Doomdooma Revenue Circle Office, Rupaisiding on Tuesday to take stock of the COVID situation here. The meeting was attended by Circle Officer Nandita Roy Gohain, former chairman, Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB), Duly Arandhara, ABITA Doomdooma Circle chairman Rajiv Gogoi, other officials, besides lot mandals of neighbouring villages. The meeting reviewed various issues like COVID tests, vaccination and setting up of Covid Care Centres.

Doomdooma Revenue Circle has no Covid Care centre. The only 30-Bedded FRU lacks sufficient staff to cope with the situation. MLA Rupesh Goala assured all help and said that he would talk to the Chief Minister in this regard. Earlier, he was felicitated by Circle Officer Nandita Roy Gohain.
