HAILAKANDI: The Hailakandi election authorities have constituted a three-member committee to examine suo-motu each case of seizure made by the police or Static Surveillance Team or Fixed Surveillance Team with immediate effect.

An order issued to this effect here on Monday by District Election Officer, Megh Nidhi Dahal stated that if the committee finds no FIR or complaint filed against the seizure or where the seizure is not linked with any candidate or political party or any election campaign etc then as per Standard Operating Procedure it shall take immediate steps to order release of such cash etc.to the persons concerned from whom the cash was seized after passing a speaking order.

The committee shall look into all cases and take decision on seizure and maintain all information pertaining to release of cash date wise. The order asked the committee members to inform the Nodal Officer of Income Tax if the release of cash is more than Rs.10 lakh. The three-member committee comprises Ranajeet Kumar Laskar, District Development Commissioner, and Nodal Officer, Election Expenditure Monitoring Cell, Joydeep Shukla, CEO, Hailakandi Zilla Parishad and Haralal Chanda, Treasury Officer.
