AZARA: A herd of wild elephants caused extensive damage to infrastructure at Nalapara Higher Secondary School under the Rani range of the East Kamrup forest division after straying into the premises during the night, further highlighting the growing human-elephant conflict in the region.
According to reports, the elephants entered the school campus late at night and went on a destructive spree, targeting key facilities within the institution. The herd reportedly damaged the school’s kitchen, leaving the structure partially destroyed and unusable.
In addition, a newly constructed storehouse meant for storing essential materials was completely ransacked by the elephants. The animals broke into the structure, damaged its walls, and scattered stored materials, leaving the newly built facility in ruins.
