EM Wilson Hasda inaugurates market complex building in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: BTC-Wilson Hasda, Executive Member (EM) of Urban Development, formally inaugurated the newly-constructed market building at Kokrajhar's main market on Saturday in the presence of Pratibha Brahma, Chairperson of the Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB). The new market building (Ground floor) was constructed at a cost of Rs. 1 crore and has 24 rooms.

In an interview with media persons, the EM of Urban Development, Wilson Hasda said the present government was trying to provide accommodation to the shopkeepers and vendors besides improving infrastructures of markets in BTR. He said the new building at Kokrajhar main market was part of this initiative to provide better accommodation. There are many infrastructures built by previous government which are now in a useless state due to certain technical faults, he said adding that they are doing renovation work with modifications, he said adding that they had been looking forward for more comfortable market huts in markets of BTR for sellers and buyers.

Hasda said Kokrajhar fish market lacks hygienic structure while the chicken market has no permanent structure and is sold in open space. He said, "The government will take necessary initiatives for constructions of hygienic fish and chicken market building with required facilities. He also said the government will give attention to bring necessary infrastructures with proper planning in the days to come to upgrade the market complex.
