TEZPUR: A sense of concern and unrest gripped Tezpur following the sudden disappearance of Akhil Sharma, a respected educationist, former principal of Tezpur Government Higher Secondary School, and former president of the historic Ban Theatre. The 84-year-old resident of Polofield, Tezpur, went missing after going out for his routine morning walk on Sunday.
According to family sources, like every other day, Sharma went out for his walk in the morning but did not return home even by 10 AM. A missing person complaint was subsequently lodged at Tezpur Sadar Police Station. Although police launched a search operation, no trace of the veteran academician had been found at the time of reporting.
Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava visited Sharma’s residence in the morning and personally informed the Superintendent of Police about the incident, urging swift and effective action to trace the missing individual. The sudden and mysterious disappearance of Akhil Sharma triggered widespread reaction and anxiety among the town’s residents.
