TEZPUR: Maya Das, a revered religious and spiritual woman of Tezpur town and a lifelong devotee of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra, passed away peacefully on May 28 at her residence in Tezpur. She was 88. Known for her honesty, deep compassion, unwavering spiritual devotion, and dedication to human service, she passed away following a brief illness related to aging.
Born on July 31, 1938, in Da-Camua village of Golaghat district, from a young age, she was recognized for her kind and pious nature. At the age of just 15, she married prominent physician Dr Rai Mohan Das, who served as an SPR of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra and was the In-charge of Satsang Vihar, Tezpur. In 1954, she became a devoted disciple of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra and, in 1955, she visited Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra at Satsang Deoghar, Jharkhand. Throughout her life, she remained steadfast in her spiritual service, touching countless lives with her dedication and grace. Her passing has cast a pall of sorrow not only over her immediate family but also across the wider community and among the many disciples of Sri Sri Thakur who held her in the highest regard. She is survived by her two sons, a daughter, and other relatives. As news of her passing spread, the area was overcome with deep sorrow, and numerous admirers from across Assam gathered at her residence to offer their respects and pranam. Her cremation was held at the Marabharalipar Cremation Ground.
