Engineers Directed To Prepare List Of Most Sensitive Embankment Sites

GUWAHATI, Sept 5: State Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika attended the second day's discussion of the two-day long workshop of engineers organized in the premises of the office of Water Resources Department at Bashishta, Guwahati.

Hazarika, who attended the workshop on both days, took stock of various innovative strategies on flood and erosion control from the engineers of the department. Speaking after the presentation by the departmental engineers in the second day's programme, Hazarika said that such workshops of the Water Resources Department would be held twice a year before and after the floods. The minister also said that a workshop would be held again for all the engineers of the department in April next year.

He directed the engineers to prepare a list of the most sensitive embankment sites of River Brahmaputra. He also urged the engineers to maintain distance from the contractor while preparing the estimates of departmental work.
