Entrepreneur Manoj Kumar Basumatary selected for Assam government's prestigious award

RANAGAPARA: Manoj Kumar Basumatary, a successful and popular entrepreneur in Balipara-Ghoramaria area near Rangapara rail city, in Sonitpur district has been selected for Assam government instituted the prestigious award, 'Assam Saurav' for his unimpeachable contribution towards bringing a revolution of work culture among the educated unemployed youths through piggery farming in most of the district of northern belt including Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, and Udalguri. Piggery farmers under his supervision have delighted most and they have expressed their gratitude towards Assam government for inspiring the sector through such an award.

An academically brilliant youth Manoj Basumatary after passing out from Goalpara Sainik School in 1992 graduated from St Stephens College, and subsequently cleared the Bank Probationary Officers examination to join the SBI as a Probationary Officer in 1998. However, the talented youth, fired with the zeal to do something worthwhile for the general uplift of his economically backward community in his own simple way, resigned from the post of Chief Manager of SBI at the Rail Bhawan, Delhi branch in 2013 for doing something fruitful back home.

Accordingly, he started entrepreneurship the same year at his native village Dhekidol at Ghoramari by establishing a modern and automated pig rearing-cum-breeding farm named 'Symbiotic Foods Private Limited' covering an area of about two bighas of land with special focus on ensuring sustainable economic growth of the tribal people through piggery and the tribal people are more accustomed to pig-rearing than other farming activities.

He has popularized the sector in an organized mode concentrating the educated and unemployed youths of the region through North East Pig Farmers' Association (NEPFA) a well-organized platform for the piggery farmers. Manoj Basumatary who has today brought a ray of hope among hundreds of tribal and non-tribal educated unemployed youths through his organized business personally owns two big piggery farms at his native place Dhekidol -Ghoramari.
