BOKAKHAT: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a quiz competition and an awareness meeting on environmental consciousness were organized on Thursday at Numaligarh Higher Secondary School. The day began with cleaning the school premises, after which the students took a pledge to plant a sapling in the name of their mothers and take responsibility for nurturing them.

In addition to activities within the school, students also took an oath to make their homes and surroundings free from plastic. Members of the school management committee as well as parents actively participated in the various programmes held to mark Environment Day.

Teacher Sanjeev Sharma urged everyone to reduce the use of plastic and explained the adverse effects excessive plastic use has on the environment.  Under the initiative of the Quiz Forum, an open quiz and a team-based quiz competition were conducted among students from classes IX to XII. Nine teams from the school participated in the quiz, which was conducted by quizmasters Namita Kakoti, Mansi Kachari, Sristi Hazarika, and Khuchi Kachari. The winning team was awarded certificates and prizes. The event was coordinated by Teacher Mausumi Gogoi.
