Ex Congress MLA Sherman Ali Shifted To AIUDF Block In Assembly

Guwahati: Suspended Congress MLA Sherman Ali on Monday shifted his seat from Congress Block to AIUDF block in the Assembly on the first day of the Assam Budget Session 2022-23.

The Baghbar MLA on March 12 had also written a letter to the speaker requesting him to change seat from Congress block to AIUDF block.

"I would like to inform you that I have been suspended from INC party and I would therefore like to request you to kindly change my seat from INC party block of seats to AIUDF block of seats," he had said in the letter.

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) last in October had suspended Ali with immediate effect for repeatedly violating the party's discipline.

The suspension came after he was arrested by Assam Police for allegedly making provocative remarks in reference to the eviction drive in Darrang district.

Police nabbed him from from MLA Hostel in Guwahati.
