NALBARI: Ex MLA of 59 Nalbari LAC Madan Kalita breathed his last on Friday at his residence in Guwahati. He represented the constituency from 2001 to 2006 as an MLA of the National Congress Party. After a long gap of 33 years he could bring hope to the party. He was a favourite leader for many in the district. "His contributions to the socio-cultural lives of the district remains unforgettable," 59 LAC MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah said. He was very close to former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. During his tenure as an MLA, many social institutions of the district were established. "He was very generous and an easily-accessible MLA. He established many social institutions in Nalbari," said Dilip Saikia, Mangaldai MP at his demise. He left behind his wife, a son and two daughters.
