Excise Department cracks down on liquor dens across Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia Excise Department, in its extensive drive against illicit liquor across Tinsukia district since lockdown began on March 23, detected 92 cases after having conducted 31 raids with the arrest of seven persons involved in illicit business. These cases were recorded from the period March 25 to April 7, stated Himan Jyoti Bora, Superintendent of Excise.

The raids were conducted under Tinsukia (Sadar), Tinsukia (Railway) and circles of Doomdooma, Dholla, Kakopathar, Sadiya, Margherita and Digboi and the places of occurrence were Gelapukhuri, Dhelakhat TE, Sripuria, Naupukhuri, Atai Lane, Talap Railway Station, Oil camp, Balibazar, Tongona, Rupai Bazar, Borhapjan, Longsowal, Hansora, Powai Bon Gaon, Powai Bazar, Golai, Namdang TE,Lalgula, Kakojan, Borlaipuli, Morankari, Kokoratuli, Chadmari Tinali, BordiloiNagar, Kachimara, Balipara, near DTO OfficeTinsukia, Muliabari, Chariali Bazar, Tara TE, Sooceriting TE, Langkashi, Laina Gaon, Tingai Bazar, Dirok TE, Dehing TE, Pabhojan, Gobindopur, Jogipathar, Pakhorijan, Rongpuria, Chapakhowa, Shantipur and other places. The quantity seized were I/D liquor 1360 litres, fermented wash 15,485 litres, DA 51 numbers, IMFL 40.77 BL, Beer 65.20 BL, IMFL(AP) 28.02 BL, Beer (AP) 6.50 BL and Pachwai 790 kg.
