Fake Currency Notes Recovered, One Arrested by Darrang Police

MANGALDAI: In a significant achievement on the basis of a tip-off, Darrang Police on Tuesday busted a notorious gang of counterfeit racketeers and seized fake Indian currency notes valued at Rs 6.50 lakh. One person was arrested in this connection.

The police team arrested one Faruk Ahmed (29) of village No.1 Niz Goriazar under Paneri Police Station in the Udalguri district at the Sarkar Chowk area under Dhula Police Station in Darrang district. On searching the bag that he was carrying, 10 bundles of Rs 500 FICN totaling Rs 5 lakh were recovered and seized. One Hero Impulse bike bearing number AS 01AY -6976 was also seized from his possession.

On being led by the accused another Rs 1.5 lakh FICN, two bundles of blank cartridge paper and a printer machine with which he had scanned and printed the fake notes were also recovered from his house in Paneri with the help of Paneri Police.
