PATHSALA: A tragic incident has raised alarm over the safety of transporting gas cylinders on motorbikes. In a recent accident, a young man of Pathsala lost his life after a gas cylinder fell off from a bike and struck him as he was riding on the road in Kaljar area of Barpeta district.
The victim, a medical representative named Kishor Choudhury, 43, was riding his motorbike when a gas cylinder that had been incorrectly fastened on a bike in front of him came loose and slid into his path. Despite his best efforts to avoid the falling cylinder, the unexpected obstruction caused him to lose control and crash. The victim died on the spot.
Witnesses described the incident as horrifying, with one bystander stating, “The gas cylinder fell with no warning, and it was too late for the rider to react. The crash happened so fast. It’s terrifying to think that something as simple as a gas cylinder could cause such a tragedy.”
This fatal accident has highlighted an ongoing concern for commuters, especially in densely populated urban areas where motorbikes are a common mode of transportation.
As the community mourns the loss of the young man, this tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by the improper transport of hazardous materials on roads.
Meanwhile, the body of the victim has been sent for post mortem at the Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Barpeta.
