DHEKIAJULI: The town of Dhekiajuli mourned the loss of a revered figure, Haragobinda Kalita, whose final rites were performed on February 27 with heartfelt tributes from family, friends, and community members. Kalita, a respected social worker and former Vice-President of the Tezpur District Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha, left an indelible mark on society through his lifelong service and dedication.
Haragobinda Kalita breathed his last on the night of February 27 following a period of illness. His passing has cast a shadow of sorrow over the community, with various organizations like Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha, Tezpur District Committee and Dhekiajuli Primary Committee, Gabharu Panchnoi Local Unit, the All Sonitpur District Satra Mahasabha, the Greater Dhekiajuli Namghar Committee, Dhekiajuli Sahitya Sabha, the Writers and Journalists Forum, voluntary group Seuj Society, and cultural organization Srijanme expressing deep grief.
A man of wisdom and compassion, Kalita pursued his early education in Sualkuchi before dedicating years of service to the Public Health Engineering Department, where he worked until retirement. Beyond his professional contributions, he was a guiding force in the community, mentoring many and actively participating in religious and cultural initiatives.
At 74, Kalita leaves behind a legacy of kindness, commitment and unwavering faith. He is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and an extended family that will cherish his memory forever. His loss is deeply felt, yet his contributions will continue to inspire generations to come.
