Five advocates Writ petition filed in Supreme Court against CAA

JORHAT: A five-member team of advocates of the Jorhat Bar Association filed a writ petition against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the Supreme Court with diary no. 45821/19 WP (C) Writ Petition (Civil) 001560/19, said Deep Ranjan Chetia, the secretary of Jorhat Bar Association on Tuesday.
Chetia said that though the Act had been enacted, yet the date for its implementation had not been gazette notified. The Association has filed the case in Court No.1 of the Supreme Court. The five-member team included Deep Ranjan Chetia, Hemen Bora, Anirban Saikia, Molen Gogoi, and Partho Jyoti Saikia. The team, while talking to reporters, said that there was a possibility of a hearing before January 22, 2020.
