Five-day 8th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival rescheduled in Assam

TANGLA: The five-day 8th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival has been rescheduled due to the ongoing prevailing situation in the State. This was made known to the media by the publicity wing of the festival management committee.

According to the new schedule, the 8th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival will be held from January 16 to January 20 of the new year. The five-day programme includes cultural exchange amongst Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring Bhutan, sports, elephant safari, jeep safari, chopper safari, night stays, indigenous food display, indigenous fashion show, cultural night programmes by the local and invited artistes and seminars on eco-tourism. Earlier, the festival was scheduled to be held from January 8 but the date was rescheduled keeping in mind the prevailing turmoil over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

The first-ever Makar Sankranti Bhairab Kumbh Poojan Mahotsav scheduled to be held from January 3 to January 15 at Bhairabkunda by the Viswa Shanti Sangathan, Bharat, has been postponed till April due to the prevailing situation in the State. This was informed by Lok Bahadur and Yudhisthir Mandal, secretaries respectively of Viswa Shanti Sangathan, Assam and Vyabasthapana Samiti of the Poojan Mahotsav.

However, the traditional Makar Snan, a community bathing programme, will be held early in the morning on January 15 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, they stated in a press release. The new program schedule will be announced within January, 2020.
