Five killed and seven injured in road mishap in Udalguri district

TANGLA: In a road mishap, five persons were killed and several injured when a speeding pick-up van with 26 persons onboard hit a roadside tree at Nasanchali under Paneri police station in Udalguri district on Friday night at about 11.30 pm.

According to reports, the pick-up van bearing registration number AS25CC7619 was part of the convoy of a wedding party that was returning from the bride’s place.

The injured were rushed to Tangla CHC and five succumbed to their injuries. They have been identified as John Kullu (42), Moniram Boro, Jiten Boro, Gobindo Boro, and Sansuma Brahma. The other eight injured persons are undergoing treatment at Mangaldai Civil Hospital and GMCH in Guwahati.
