LAKHIMPUR: Due to heavy and incessant rainfall in the State of Arunachal Pradesh in last few days, the mighty Brahmaputra and its tributary River Lali have been in spate in Jonai subdivision of Dhemaji district.

As a result of it, the overflowing water of the two rivers has inundated Mesaki Chapori along with an extensive area under Laimekuri Gaon Panchayat under Jonai Revenue Circle of the district. The flash flood caused by the Brahmaputra has submerged Mesaki Rabha, Mesaki Boro, Mesaki Barman, Barman Tiniali, Mohanamukh, Goala, Milanpur, Singapur, Mukalipothar, Lamajan, Rumoirumoi, Koyola Ali Barman, , Mising Kangkan, Koyola Ali Joypur, Ano Chapori, Kejon Dikhari, Koyola Ali Bishnupur, Ramsing Rabha, Ramsing Boro, Ramsing Goala, Buriya Chapori, Sitaram Chapori, Jaoghuli Mising, Jaoghuli Boro and Dadere villages since Thursday. The flood has paralyzed the normal life of the people affecting the communication and transportation systems. The situation has turned critical with the shortage of pure drinking water and food items due to which the affected people along with the livestock are suffering a lot. The river island Mesaki Chapori has become isolated.

On the other hand, flash flood caused by River Lali has also inundated as many as 20 villages under Bogoriguri area under Ramdhon Dikhari Gaon Panchayat. The Dhemaji district units of UBPO, ABSU, Rabha Students' Union and All Bodo Women Welfare Federation (ABWWF) have demanded the district administration to provide flood relief to the flood affected people.
