Formal handover of first phase campus of Rabindranath Tagore University in Hojai

HOJAI: The Rabindranath Tagore University, located in Hojai, entered a significant chapter in its journey of infrastructural development. The university authorities formally received the newly-constructed first phase of the campus at Sagarbasti, adjacent to Hojai town, from the Building Division of the Public Works Department (PWD), Hojai district, on Wednesday, a press release issued by Rabindranath Tagore University stated.

As per the release, a brief ceremony was organized on this occasion, attended by officials from both PWD and the university.

The release added that the construction project was approved under Administrative Approval No. AA/PWB_2022-23(I)_1573, dated 15-11-2022. The sanctioned project cost was Rs 5891.64295 lakh, while the tendered amount was Rs 5640.38804 lakh. The work order number was CE/TB-VI/46/2022/27, dated 30-12-2022, and construction began on the same day and was completed within the stipulated time frame.

According to the release, the project was executed under the supervision of the contractor firm Messrs MP Khaitan. The project includes a double-storied academic building (8366 square meters), an administrative building (2848 square meters), internal and external electrification, a sub-station, EPABX and LAN connectivity, water supply system, sanitary systems, fire safety measures, road construction, site development, as well as boundary wall, gate, landscaping, installation of furniture, and finishing works. At the handover ceremony, the Assistant Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, and Executive Engineer of the Hojai and Binakandi Territorial Building sub-division were present. On behalf of the university, the campus was received by Dr Shekhar Kanti Sarkar, Acting Registrar of Rabindranath Tagore University. The university’s engineering division, registrar’s branch, and other concerned departments inspected and verified the infrastructural work before formally approving the handover.

The release also stated that the new campus at Sagarbasti would enhance the academic environment and infrastructural capacity of the university, ensuring a modern and student-friendly atmosphere. Professor Dr Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor of the university, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the PWD officials, engineers, and the construction firm for completing the work on time with dedication. He remarked that this handover marked the beginning of a new promising chapter in the educational and institutional development of Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai.
