Former MP Biswajit Daimary's son rescued from Bongaigaon

KOKRAJHAR: The son of former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary-Amit Raj Daimary (16), a student of Class X of Reality Public School, Kokrajhar, who went missing since Tuesday, was rescued from Bongaigaon on Wednesday and was brought to his Kokrajhar residence by senior police officers.

Amit Raj Daimary reportedly went missing from the school on Tuesday at around 1.30 pm after he abstained from the remaining two classes. As reports received from the school authority, Daimary jumped over the boundary wall to avoid the CCTV cameras fitted in the school and main gate. The school authority did not find footage of him fleeing through the gate and immediately informed the police authority.

According to the police sources, Amit Raj Daimary was rescued from Chapaguri bus stand; Bongaigaon on Wednesday when he was waiting for a Guwahati-bound bus. Meanwhile, another source said the boy was kept at their relative's house in Bongaigaon after he was rescued by local people who identified him after his photo was posted on social media. Sources also said that he was seen in Kokrajhar Railway Station on Tuesday where he was trying to board a Guwahati-bound train.

On Wednesday, the ADGP (Law and order) JP Singh with BTC IGP-Anurag Agarwal, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan and other senior police officers along with former MP Biswajit Daimary brought Amit Raj Daimary to his Kokrajhar residence on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters, former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said that his son had a telephonic conversation with him on Monday at 9.30 am and he told him about his intention to go to Guwahati. He thanked the police and the people who helped in tracking and rescuing his son.
