Foundation stones of BCAA office-cum-guest house & Ostad Kamini Kr Narzary Bhawan laid

KOKRAJHAR: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro on Sunday ceremonially laid the foundation stones of an office-cum-guest house of the Bodo Cine Artistes Association (BCAA) at Choto Adabari near Kokrajhar town and Ostad Kamini Kr Narzary Bhawan at Baganshali. The foundation stone-laying ceremony was also attended by BTC EM Daikhong Basumatary, MCLA Madhav Chandra Chetri, renowned film director Jwngdao Bodosa, and leaders of the BCAA. The office-cum-guest house of BCAA at Adabari would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.

In his speech, CEM Boro said that cinema was boundaryless and free from politics. He said that the government never wanted political gains out of culture and the film industry. He said that as many as six cinema halls were coming up at different parts of BTC of which one digi-cinema hall at Serfanguri was inaugurated recently. He also said that the design of the office-cum- guest house would be state-of-the-art. He assured that the Tikendrajit Narzary (Jalakho) Digital Cinema hall with a seating capacity of 500 would be set up in Kokrajhar town.

Boro said that the proposed site of the office-cum-guest house of BCAA was also the burial place of noted litterateur Late Mahini Mohan Brahma and ex-MP Samar Brahma Choudhury. He said that the site would be developed and beautified to honour the souls of Late Mahini Mohan Brahma and Samar Brahma Choudhury.

Boro also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Ostad Kamini Kr Narzary Memorial Bhawan at Baganshali in Kokrajhar in the presence of BTC EM, Saikhong Basumatary and Nominated Member Madhav Chandra Chetri. He said that the Ostad Kamini Kr Narzary Bhavan would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore and Rs 50 lakh would be released for the extension of the office of the Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DBHA). He called upon the activists of DBHA to compile a history of 100 years of Bodo culture for which he would provide a support of Rs 25 lakh.

The programme was also attended by Adviser of DBHA Rahendra Nath Brahma, noted singers Sulekha Basumatary and Budang Bulab Brahma, and other artistes.
