KOKRAJHAR: In a significant milestone for the development of Bodo film industry, Chief of BTC Pramod Boro on Monday ceremonially inaugurated the newly-constructed 1st Tikendrajit Narzary (Jalakho) digi-cinema hall at Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district in the presence of BTC Speaker Katiram Boro, MP Joyanta Basumatary, EM Ranjit Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary, former Deputy chief of BTC Kampa, MCLA Reo Reoa Narzihary, and leaders of DBHA and BCAA. The inaugural programme was also attended by BTC Secretary of Cinema and Theatre Phami Brahma, Chairperson of KMB Pratibha Brahma, President of BCAA Phungkha Mohilary, noted film director Jwngdao Bodosa, daughter of Tikendrajit Narzary, Bardwisila Narzary, President of Serfanguri Bazar Committee, Pwjakhang Mashahary, and noted comedian Fwila J Borgoyary.
The department of Cinema and Theatre, BTC had proposed the setting up of six cinema halls in different places of the council in the name of renowned Bodo film artiste Late Tikendrajit Narzary alias Jalakho.
In his address after the formal inauguration of Tikendrajit Narzary (Jalakho) Digi-Cinema hall at Serfanguri, the Chief of BTC Pramod Boro said that the longstanding need of the artistes and producers as well as cine lovers was going to be fulfilled as six cinema halls were being constructed in different places of BTC at the initiative of the Government of BTR. He said that the BTC has earmarked Rs 1.5 crores for the construction of office of the central committee, BCAA at Haloadol in Kokrajhar.
The new Cinema hall with a 160 seating capacity was built at a cost of Rs 2.19 crore. As many as six Tikendrajit Narzary Digi-Cinema halls are being constructed in various places of BTC. The inauguration of the cinema halls will boost the cine industry in the BTC region, especially the local film productions. There was a lack of cinema halls in BTC due to which growth of the film industry was affected.
The setting up of cinema halls in BTC was a long pending demand of the Bodo Cine Artistes’ Association (BCAA) and the Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DBHA) that finally came to reality at the initiative of BTC chief Pramod Boro, who is looking after the department of Cinema and Theatre.
