Four-day long emergency management exercise training gets underway in Howraghat

HOWRAGHAT: A four-day long emergency management exercise training programme begun Diphu, headquarter of the Karbi Anglong district, from Tuesday. The training programme will conclude on January 31. The emergency management exercise training programme, organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Karbi Anglong in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), was formally inaugurated at the conference hall, Arboretum Cum Craft Centre, Matipung Diphu.

The emergency management exercise training programme has been conducted with the objective to test the response mechanism of different line departments, agencies, and stakeholders of the district. The exercise is designed to harness the strength and compatibilities of different departments, institutions, and organizations that are responsible for carrying out the emergency response mechanism in an urban disaster.

As per the scheduled programme, on the first day the trainees participating from different departments were imparted training separately on mass causticity handling for doctors, nurses, paramedics, coordination response based on IRS principle and managing relief operative, search and rescue, school disaster preparedness and water and sanitation.
