SILCHAR: Cachar is under the gloomy shadow of galloping corona shadow. This is not only a frightening situation but also raising relevant question in public mind, when will normalcy return to remove anxiety? According to District Media Expert, Suman Choudhury, 236 cases tested on Monday positive in Cachar which include 21 RT-CPR and 215 RAT. In all, 3,442 RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) was done. Of the 373 Air passengers alighting at Kumbhirgram Airport today, 4 came out to be positive after being subjected to test at M G Model Hospital, Tikal. On Saturday, 312 cases turned out to be the highest that include 114 RT-CPR and 198 RAT. The second wave has so far claimed 12 lives. The 140 bed capacity COVID ward of SMCH is nearing saturation point though the hospital source says there is no shortage of oxygen and lack of other basic medical facilities. Despite repeated requests from the administration, people continue to have callous attitude towards COVID Protocol as was seen in the Metro Bazar. A team of police led by a magistrate had to intervene to melt away the crowd.

According to SMCH source, former ADC of Cachar Mriganka Mohan Das died last night in COVID ward. His wife is struggling for life in COVID ward. The second wave is proving more fatal. The only way to come out of this critical phase is to abide by COVID guidelines strictly, pointed out Dr Kumar Kanti Das, FRCS, Director of Sundari Mohan Sevasadan, Sreekona.
