Gargaon College takes initiative to promote bhaona
Gargaon College, which has completed 60 glorious years of existence, has been working not only for the furtherance of academics but also that of culture, sports etc.

SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College, which has completed 60 glorious years of existence, has been working not only for the furtherance of academics but also that of culture, sports etc. As part of such initiatives, the college has taken a step towards the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Assam by planning to stage 'Harmohan, Gojoketu Upakhyan, Dhritarashtar Digbijoy Aru Trishira Doityo Nidhon' bhaona under the aegis of the teachers, non-teaching staff and students of the College on January 29, 2023. In this regard, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal, Gargaon College opined that bhaona, which is an inextricable part of Assamese culture, has been playing an epoch-making role throughout the centuries. He expressed hope that by practising this art form, the college would be able to bring about cultural unity and promotion and preservation of heritage. He also informed that the bhaona would be organized in the memory of the departed members associated with the college since its inception.
