Ghatowar Slams Tinsukia Municipal Board For 'Failure'

Tinsukia: : Former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar lambasted Tinsukia Municipal Board (TMB) for its total failure to provide basic civic amenities to the people of Tinsukia.

Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here on Friday, Ghatowar opined that the municipality board should be people-friendly. He regretted that during the past five years, the TMB could not bring any special scheme from the DoNER Ministry or North Eastern Council for Tinsukia even though the town is being represented by a Union Minister.

He was highly critical of the way the ruling party members engaged themselves in 'unethical and undemocratic propaganda' to misguide voters pertaining to allotment of schemes to the beneficiaries. Ghatowar said that there should not any discrimination between beneficiaries on the basis of caste, creed, religion and political allegiance. He demanded that the municipal board should publish an audit report in the form of a booklet in public domain.
