Goalpara DC's initiative to improve Sri Surya Pahar archaeological site

Goalpara: With a view to make Sri Surya Pahar a tourist-friendly archaeological site with all the necessary facilities, the Goalpara district administration has taken several recent initiatives to uplift it.

On Friday, the Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara Varnali Deka inaugurated a newly constructed guest house at Sri Surya Pahar Campus which will fulfill a long pending demand of the visiting tourists to this popular site.

Besides, the district administration arranged ten numbers of large size dustbins to be placed all over the area which is donated by the Goalpara Municipality Board.

It was formally handed over to the Sri Surya Pahar Mandir Committee on the same day. In order to bring the administration closer to the public, the monthly District Development Committee (DDC) meeting was also held in the Sri Surya Pahar Guest House on Friday where all the departmental officers were present to review the departmental progress of various schemes.

Later, the DC interacted with the public gathered from all over the district. People present in the interaction let the administration know the problems and issues of the public.

Issues related to Sri Surya Pahar archaeological site was the top priority in the meeting. Ashrumoni Malakar and Gautom Mazumdar, besides others, accompanied Varnali Deka in the program. Sri Surya Pahar is located about 12 km from Goalpara town. It is a holy religious site for three religions, Hindu, Jain, and the Buddhists. It is popularly known as the Ajanta Elora of North East India.
