Goalpara district administration begins process of 16th national Census

Goalpara: The Goalpara district administration has begun the process of the 16th national Census in the district on Thursday under the supervision of the office of the Directorate of Census in Assam. Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka will act as the Principal Census Officer and Ashraful Amin, ADC, as the District Census Officer.

In this regard, the first training session for 33 field trainers began at the Agricultural Training Centre, Goalpara where Rituparna Das, assistant commissioner, and Yusuf Tanveer Ahmed, Circle Officer of Dudhnoi, imparted training. “The field trainers, after their four-day training, will train the supervisors and enumerators,” said ADC Ashraful Amin.

He further said, “There will be two Census phases in the district, ‘House listing’ and ‘Housing Operation’. The listing of houses will be carried out first. Besides, the entire process of the Census operation will be covered this time through a special mobile app. The app can be operated and remain active even at the time of internet disruption.”

On the other hand, Narayan Konwar, Director of Census in Assam, visited Goalpara district and held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka and other in-charge officers in the latter’s conference hall. While reviewing the preparations for the Census process, Narayan Konwar emphasized selecting quality supervisors for the mission and timely completion of the training for the enumerators. Apart from others, the review meeting of Thursday was also attended by Suprava Roy, assistant commissioner and in-charge DIPRO.
