Problems and prospects of banana market discussed at Goalpara

Goalpara: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), an apex body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry responsible for the export promotion of agricultural products, arranged on Saturday an awareness-cum-promotion meeting at Goalpara’s Darrangiri for banana and strawberry products.

The meeting thoroughly discussed the problems and prospects of the Darrangiri banana market, treated as Asia’s largest banana market. The meeting was a joint collaboration of the State Agriculture Department and the Goalpara district administration.

Paban Kumar Borthakur, president of APEDA, Rajesh Prasad, Principal Secretary of Agriculture, Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka, officers from railway and airport authority and marketing experts of several States participated in the meeting and spoke at length on the subject.
