GOLAGHAT: The All Golaghat District Students’ Union on Wednesday staged protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding magisterial enquiry into alleged appointment anomalies in Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Directorate of Information and Public Relation.

More than 300 members of the organization shouted various slogans against the government. The president and secretary of Golaghat District Students’ Union, Niranjan Sonowal and Prince Doley respectively, slammed the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP State Government for massive anomalies in appointment to various posts of both departments. Both the student leaders said that by giving assurance of zero tolerance to corruption and bringing changes in the State, the Sarbananda Sonowal government came to the power. But later by giving appointment to relatives of MLAs and ministers, the real approach of the Sarbananda Sonowal government to corruption had been exposed.

They said that the act of depriving meritorious candidates would never be accepted. They also threatened massive protest in the coming days. Later a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat. In the protest programme, AASU central committee chief organizing secretary Raju Phukan, assistant general secretary Manuwar Hussain and Golaghat AASU adviser Mridul Saikia were present.
