Gossaigaon Police Seized Two trucks of illegal Sagwan wood

Gossaigaon: Gossaigaon Police led by OC Mantu Ram Borah launched an operation at Telepara NH-31(C) and seized a 12-wheeler truck bearing registration number KA52A/1679 loaded with sagwan wood.

Eurus Khan (50), resident of Mewar district in Haryana, was arrested along the vehicle. Later interrogating the driver, information regarding a similar vehicle was attained and accordingly another operation was launched by Gossaigaon OC in the Bhadeaguri area of the subdivision and another 14-wheeler truck (RJ32GB/8632) was seized. The driver Nadeem (28), resident of Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, was detained.

Sources said that the vehicles were loaded from Tinsukia and Meghalaya and were heading to Jaipur and Kolkata respectively. The seized items along with the arrested drivers were brought to Gossaigaon PS for further enquiry. The estimated cost of the wood is more than Rs 1 crore.
