‘Government taking steps to empower women’ Says Tuliram Ronghang

Donkamukam: “For rapid growth of rural women’s economy, the present government has taken specific measures for empowering them such as providing a one-time financial assistance amounting to Rs 5 lakh to women SHGs,” said Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang on Sunday at the Aideur Bulonis programme held at Tumpreng.

“Our country’s economy is going though at critical stage but slowly and steadily we are coping with the situation. I urge women to play a more active role in the society,” he added.

He assured that the government was considering of providing one kg of rice to BPL families under the Food Security Act. The programme was organized by Rongkhang Block Mohila Morcha under the banner ‘Aideur Buloni’ at Tumpreng in West Karbi Anglong.
