Gramin Dak Sevaks go on indefinite strike in Tezpur

A Correspondent

Tezpur: The All India Gramin Dak Sevak Employees’ Union across the country, including Tezpur branch, started an indefinite strike on Tuesday in support of their long-pending demands of implementation of 7th Pay Commission. They demanded the implementation of all positive recommendations of the Kamalesh Chandra Committee.

While taking to this correspondent, Loknath Kalita, secretary of Tezpur Chapter of All India Gramin Dak Sevak employees’ union, informed that though the Pay Commission of India issued new guidelines regarding the salary of these employees, the government had never paid any interest in implementing these guidelines. Moreover, these employees have been deprived of getting medical allowances, children education allowance and other allowances. He added that recently these employees had been deprived of getting facilities approved by the 7th Pay Commission under Kamalesh Chandra and instead of implementing these, the government was exploiting these employees. Though these workers have accepted the terms of the 7th Pay Commission, the government implemented the facilities from July 1, 2018 which was actually to be implemented from January 1, 2016. Kalita urged the government to implement the recommendations immediately for the benefit of the Gramin Dak Sevaks.
