ORANG: Concerned over the crisis faced by the Bengali departments in several colleges, the East West Bangla Xahitya Parishad and the All Assam Bengali Yuba Chhatra Parishad jointly submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University on Monday.
Led by Parishad Central Committee Secretary Samar Ghosh and central committee member Biplab Biswas, the delegation highlighted various issues affecting Bengali studies under the Bodoland University. They urged the university authority to take urgent measures to protect and strengthen the department in affiliated colleges.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the team that the matter would be placed before the academic council for immediate action and if necessary, taken up with the state government.
