KOKRAJHAR: In a significant milestone towards digital transformation and academic advancement in Northeast India, Bodoland University (BU) formally entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with REC Foundation, New Delhi, recently for the establishment of an advanced multidisciplinary computer laboratory worth Rs 6.22 crore. The initiative is supported under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate of REC Ltd, a premier Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Power.
Sources from the BU informed that the MoA was jointly executed by Dr Subung Basumatary, Registrar of Bodoland University, and Pradeep, Fellow of REC Foundation. The signing ceremony was graced by Raju Narzary, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Ashok Kr Brahma, Research Scholar, Department of Biotechnology, and Manish Tiwari, CSR representative from REC Foundation.
This visionary initiative is poised to establish Bodoland University as a regional centre of excellence in digital education, innovation and capacity-building, particularly benefiting students from tribal and underrepresented communities in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The state-of-the-art laboratory highlights high-end computing infrastructure and smart-classroom systems, robust infrastructure for national-level online examinations (NET, GATE, UPSC, SSC, etc.), facilities for government and private sector training programmes in technology and employability, digital content creation, server-based learning, and inclusive access tools for differently-abled learners.
