Guwahati Hosts National Seminar on Act East Policy's Impact on North-East Development

DHUBRI: Young scholars attended the national level seminar on “Globalising North-East through Act East Policy: A Socio-Political and Economic Perspective” at Guwahati Handique Girls’ College on Wednesday.

In the inaugural session, Prof Jayanta Krishna Sharma of Gauhati University delivered the keynote address where Dr Pori Hiloidari, convenor of IQAC and Dr. Sangita Gogoi, Director (i/c) Historical and Antiquarian Studies delivered eye opening speeches.

In this session, Dr. Biswajit Choudhury who organized this young scholars’ meet highlighted the theme while Principal Dr Ranjit Sharma delivered his welcome address. The young scholars’ meet was organized under the ongoing ICSSR major Research Project. In this programme 45 young scholars presented their papers in five different offline sessions and two different online sessions.

Ten different numbers of Assistant Professors from various different institutions spoke about their research experiences as plenary address.

Moreover, in this programme a book of abstracts was also released by the organising committee.

In this meet various participants from different parts of the northeastern states participated as well as participants from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Gujarat, Chennai presented their papers. The valedictory session was addressed by Mohammad Sazzad Alam ACS, Joint Secretary Act East Policy Affairs Department, Government of Assam who distributed the seminar certificates to the participants.
