GUWAHATI: A Purabi Milk Booth has been launched at the entrance to the government complex in Dispur, allowing officials and visitors of Janata Bhawan to enjoy fresh dairy products.

On December 18, Purabi, the biggest dairy cooperative in Northeast India, opened the prefabricated booth, bringing high-quality dairy goods closer to the centre of the capital city of Assam.

A major step towards expanding access to dairy products in the area has been taken with this move, which was organised by the West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL) and the recently established North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL), a joint venture between the Government of Assam and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

The milk booth was established as part of the APART Project, which was supported by the World Bank. It sells a range of Purabi products, such as milk, lassi, flavoured milk, ice cream, curd, ghee, paneer, and fresh cream.

Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, who spoke at the inauguration, stated that the project supports the Assam government's initiatives to boost milk output and fortify the dairy industry. He cited the booth as an illustration of how contemporary infrastructure can support local jobs and encourage healthy habits.

The booth's inauguration is a component of a larger initiative to change Assam's dairy industry. In addition to Janata Bhawan, several Purabi Milk Booths have been established in Guwahati, including an Indian Oil petrol station in Khanapara and Gauhati Medical College & Hospital.

Additionally, Purabi Parlours have been opened at its locations in Panjabari and Changsari, opposite AIIMS.
