Guwahati Rave Party Case: Prime Accused Bishal Choudhury Shot, Admitted At GMCH

GUWAHATI: In a major development in the Kharguli rave party case, prima accused Bishal Choudhury was shot by police after he tried escaping from their custody in Guwahati on Saturday.

A special team of Guwahati police, in collaboration with Delhi police (based on the statement of an accused Ashok Barman), conducted an operation in Delhi last month and nabbed Bishal, who is an alleged cocaine supplier in Guwahati. He is suspected to have supplied drugs in the city's rave party case on August 13.

According to latest reports, Bishal was shot on his left leg after he made an attempt to flee from police custody on Saturday night. After the incident, he was admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

On the night of August 13, a team of police based on specific information had raided a flat on the third floor in Riviera Apartments in Guwahati's Kharguli area. The apartment belonged to a businessman Vikas Jain. The rave party was arranged to celebrate the birthday of a person Amit Baruah. Police, during the raid, seized cocaine, three types of weed and opium from the apartment. 18 people, who were present at the rave party, were arrested by the cops in connection with seizure of the drugs and a case was registered with the Latasil police station under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

DGP (special) G.P. Singh shared about the incident on Twitter on Sunday. He wrote cops had to use firearms in self defence after Bishal Choudhury (son of Bikash Choudhury) tried escaping from police custody.
