Guwahati: The city of Guwahati is gearing up to host the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) this month. This comes as an exciting news to cinema lovers who will now be able to experience Japanese cinema in the coming days.

The Japanese Film festival is set to take place at PVR City Centre which is located in the City Centre shopping mall in Guwahati's GS Road from January 17 to January 19.

Nine critically acclaimed films have been lined up for the experience which is integrated with a diverse combination of drama, animation and cultural storytelling.

On January 18 and 19, the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) will showcase a range of films. Highlights include the revolutionary anime Akira, Mom, Is That You?!, All the Long Nights, and Broker on January 18.

On January 19, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Monster, the Academy Award-winning Shoplifters, and The Imaginary will be featured. Tickets are available on PVR and BookMyShow.

On Wednesday, the Viraasat Special Handloom Expo was inaugurated at Mahavir Dharm Sthal, Guwahati, by Pillai, Assistant Director of Handloom, WSC Guwahati, and Om Shetty, Chairman of Mahavir Dharm Sthal.

Organized by the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the event runs from January 8 to 14, 2025, celebrating India’s handloom heritage.

The Expo provides a platform for weavers to showcase their craftsmanship, featuring a variety of handloom products such as Banarasi, Jamdani, Muga, Ikkat, and more. Live weaving demonstrations offer a unique opportunity to explore the artistry behind these creations.
