GUWAHATI: In a heartwarming and extraordinary incident, a woman from Bihar brought a new life into the world right on Platform No. 4 of Guwahati Railway Station, transforming an otherwise routine journey into an unforgettable event.
This remarkable occurrence has not only highlighted the unpredictability of life but also underscored the commitment of railway authorities to ensuring passenger welfare.
The woman was traveling with her family from Agartala to Barauni on the Rani Kamlapati Express when she suddenly went into labor. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the family promptly informed the train staff, who in turn alerted officials of the Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railway.
Demonstrating efficiency and compassion, the railway officials advised the family to de-board the train at Guwahati Railway Station, where necessary arrangements were made to assist the woman.
As soon as the train reached the station, the railway doctors and female personnel from the Railway Protection Force were ready to take charge. They sprang into action and aided the woman through labor, successfully assisting in her delivery right on the platform.
The fact that this concerted response came to the mother's and newborn's aid, despite the critical state of affairs at hand, truly reflected the readiness of the railway authorities.
Immediately after the safe delivery, both the mother and her baby were shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in an ambulance for further treatment. This prompt response from the team of N.F. Railway had saved the lives of both the mother and the child.
The instance presented here indicates that the officers at N.F. Railways always act promptly for urgent needs and in case of emergency. Here again, the readiness of railway employees not only assured a safe passage to the guests but also ready aid in terms of medical complications.
