Guwahati: The newly built supermarket flyover in Guwahati's Dispur is likely to be inaugurated this Diwali.

As per official sources, the flyover will possibly be opened for public use on November 3. The new flyover is a double-lane T-shaped structure and is 1.21 kilometres in length. The new flyover will facilitate connectivity between Dispur and Khanapara and the Supermarket and the Last gate.

Reportedly, the flyover was built with an estimated budget of around Rs. 127.20 crores.

As the in-charge of the PWD ministry in Assam, the flyover construction site was reviewed by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma by walking from the Supermarket to the Janata Bhavan on October 27, in the company of his escorts who travelled through the flyover.

Assam CM Sarma also shared the updates on the flyover on his official Twitter handle. He wrote, "Inspected the newly-constructed flyover at Dispur Supermarket, Guwahati. Happy to see that the flyover is almost ready for inauguration. With the opening of this flyover, traffic congestion in the area will significantly get reduced."

It is to be mentioned that the foundation for the flyover was laid on December 8, 2019, and was proposed to be completed in a period of 36 months. However, the flyover was completed within 18-19 months.
