Haflong Main Post Office in 'Shambles'

HAFLONG: Haflong Main Post Office, once the pride of Haflong town, has become a place of harassment due to the indifferent attitude of the officials, alleged conscious citizens of Haflong.

Though there is a citizen's charter hanging on the wall of the office building, the officials alleegdly never adhere to the citizen's charter wherein the time for works are specified according to the nature of the works.

The officials often give excuses like shortage of staff and shortage of stationery goods. The printing machine often remains out of order, thereby delaying the update of the passbook. People find it difficult to do simple works.

Some people said that the post office was in shambles as some of the staff behave according to their whims and fancies. Many people have reportedly closed down their accounts due to such dilly-dallying attitude of the officials.

Post Master A Hagjer, who joined very recently, said he had been communicating with the high officials at Silchar for posting more staff so that no one faces problems in getting services. People are of the opinion that the high-ups at Silchar are too reluctant to solve the issues related to public services at Haflong Post Office for reasons best known to them.
