GAURISAGAR: Along with the rest of the state, the 11th International Yoga Day (IYD) was celebrated at Hatighuli MV School on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district under the aegis of Hatighuli MV School Maharajat Jayanti Udjapan Samiti. In the event, Abhijita Dutta, a student of class IV of Sankardev Bidya Mandir, Gaurisagar, who won the fifth place in the yoga competition held at Sivasagar on June 15 jointly organized by National Ayush Mission, Assam and Sivasagar District Administration, demonstrated various yoga poses. Besides, Traditional Reiki Grand Master and Meditation Trainer Maromi Dutta gave a brief overview of the importance of yoga and reiki in maintaining health.

Earlier, Tarulata Baruah, Headmistress of the school, explained the objective of the 11th International Yoga Day. In the event, Muhi Kanta Nath and Hemonta Nath, President and Secretary respectively of Hatighuli MV School Maharajat Jayanti Udjapan Samiti, and senior journalist Rajib Dutta were present and spoke a few words on the day. On the other hand, Rupa Saikia, Assistant Teacher of the school, offered the vote of thanks to all for making the day a grand success.
