GOLAGHAT: At a time when the Government of Assam is claiming huge development and smooth functioning in the health sector, a dilapidated health centre has exposed the real picture of development in the health sector of Assam.

The people of greater Rong Bong village under Morangi mouza of Golaghat district have expressed resentment over non-functioning of a health sub-centre which was constructed in 2018. In this present COVID pandemic situation, people of greater Rong Bong village have to travel more than 5-7 km for medical treatment due to no health centre nearby.

Notably, after several demands and requests of the villagers, the Heath Department of Golaghat alloted a health centre in 4 No. Rong Bong Gaon, namely Owguri Chaurabasti Sub-Health Centre. This health centre was constructed in the year 2018. But till now the health centre has not started functioning. The building and its surrounding area is now in a pathetic condition due to non-maintenance.

The villagers have demanded the health department of Golaghat as well as the Government of Assam to open the health centre immediately in the crucial pandemic situation. They have also demanded that required number of doctors and medical staff should be appointed immediately.
